TouchControl Universal Remote Відгуки

Best 3rd-party app on my phone!

I’ll admit I was upset when the makers of the iRule app I was using for home control sold out to Kramer Electronics. I chose TouchControl as a replacement and have no regrets. It is far more powerful than iRule ever was and has a much better model that uses locally built servers with which to edit configurations on devices. Well worth the time I invested to learn the basics I needed. One of the best features of this system is the tech support. Dave is incredibly helpful and responds within hours to push me over small bumps I’ve encountered. What’s really great is that fixes to minor bugs and even new features that I’ve suggested are implemented within days of my request! Never would have expected this from an app. The only feature missing is a timer that would execute commands on a schedule (like existed in dedicated remotes like ProntoPro NG 7000, e.g.)—but Dave even suggested a workaround for that. Overall, considering the power, price and current level of support, you can’t go wrong with this app.

App crashes after update

Applied the patch and the remote app crashes after. Tried restarting, deleted and re-installed Does the server have to updated too?

Great !!!

As a long-time user of TouchControl I would just like to say this is the most wonderful software I have ever used. If you're looking for something that is turnkey this might not be for you. But if you are a DIY enthusiast then you found the right software. I challenge anyone to find a company that supports a product better than Dave does.Simply email him and he will help. I have done this many times and not once has he ever failed me. I highly recommend Touch Control. Al Wassmer

Best Remote Control App

After having to replace my iPad, I noticed I could no longer download my iRule app which I had invested a lot of time with over the years. Attempting to contact both iRule (which no longer supports the App) and Apple resulted in no progress. So I resigned myself, to having to find an alternative. I tried out several Apps (some a great deal more expensive), in much frustration. The Apps simply did not have the capability and flexibility I had come to expect from using iRule. Fortunately I stumbled upon this App and am so very happy I did. There is a bit of experience required to get up to speed, but not any more than iRule required. In addition Dave is always readily available to provide A++ support with getting over the learning curve, helping with any desired Java scripts, etc. He has spent thousands of hours developing and perfecting the app and documentation and it shows. In comparison to iRule, l believe the TC app has equivalent if not more flexibility and capability and is more user friendly and straight forward than iRule. The instruction manual is approximately 200 pages, well written, and is useful for explaining basic functionality for the novice, as well as more complicated versatile implementations for the advanced users. I can highly recommend this App for all users and you will not find a better Remote Control for IR, IP, Serial (RS232) and other communications in the App Store that is better designed, functions great, and has great versatility. The fact that this app is dirt cheap and has great support makes it a no brainer.

A little confusing to connect exert A PC Renote

Connects easy

Total customization

If your willing to invest a little time you can have the most customizable remote available PERIOD Use Siri and Shortcuts to control anything. The best I have come across.

Beware

Requires server software to be loaded, and Wi-Fi. Bait and switch. Suckered again.

Worst remote ever

Spent 4.99 on remote and 1.99 for global cache upgrade. Can’t get the software out of demo mode. Seriously, i wish apple had a way to refund money from sketchy software developers.

Another VERY satisfied convert from iRule

As a long time iRule user, I was on a mission to find a remote replacement when I found out iRule had been sold and their servers would eventually be shut down. I tried many different apps prior to trying Touch Control and all lacked in some form compared to what I had been able to do with iRule. Also, many were clunky, had poor design interfaces or had problems with crashing, etc. After spending a couple hours with Touch Control, I knew this would be the perfect replacement. Not only does Touch Control do all that iRule does but it does a TON more and more often than not, in a much more straightforward way. The options with Touch Control are seemingly limitless and as I journey through designing my new remote, each day I discover new, neat features I want to add. Yes, there is a learning curve, and some of the more advanced features require some basic javascript programming, but I had absolutely NO javascript experience coming in and I feel I’ve made some pretty decent strides in getting things figured out. And the best part of the app hands down is the tech support. It is beyond amazing and always willing to help you figure something out when you get stuck. Plus there is a very nice companion manual which provides a great reference to all the features of the app and explains with examples how to set things up. I’ve got control and feedback set up for a bunch of different home theater and lighting devices and look forward to adding more. This is not a ‘set up in an hour or two’ kind of remote. It requires a fair amount of setup, layout and programming time, but it allows unlimited customization based solely on how you want to accomplish things and lay them out. If you’re a DIY’er and like to tinker, this is an amazing app. After several weeks working with it in my limited spare time, I’ve got nothing bad to say about. There are regular updates that keep adding cool new features and did I mention the tech support is awesome? A+++

Way over my head :(

I didn't think it would be so difficult. Going through all pages of instructions gave me a headache and some did not match up to what I was seeing in app installed on Mac. I'm very technical but not program savvy so had to give up. Was hoping for pre-configs to install. Needed a universal remote that did not require me to update my iOS (didn't want to break my perfectly working phone). Oh well back to my search.

Better than iRule

I was looking for something to replace a great remote I had worked on over the years, iRule, which was discontinued. Looked at a dozen options, finally settled on this app and very happy I did. This app does more than iRule ever did and is well supported. Many things are easier than was the case in iRule, and, it doesn’t rely on companies website to run. Like any good remote app, there are many things to learn. But the language is much better than iRules limited custom language.

Don't get suckered in to this!

Worst app ever! Cannot access server, find servers, or even figure out ANYTHING ON THIS AT ALL! save your time and pass on this thing!

Don't

Not worth it, very outdated and difficult to use. Save your money

A complete waste...

Don't waste your money. It does not work.

Don't be fooled, very, very un-user friendly

Don't be fooled, very, very un-user friendly

Wonderful client server remote control

Been using this app, and the associated server component, for years and it just keeps getting better and better. If you are expecting a plug and play remote - look elsewhere. If you are willing to spend a few hours designing your own remote on the server the benefits are huge. It offers ultimate flexibility and control and a price point others in this class can't touch. The developer is very customer focused and updates with new features frequently. I LOVE this app!

Terrible

Spent 6 hours trying to get app to find devices, but no avail. You have to download several other apps to tie I'm with this app, prior. I bought and installed the add on apps/upgrades and still not working!

Best DIY Automation Software Avail. Bar None

I used to use an IR Harmony remote for my main living area but once you go down the IP/WIFI control path, you’ll never look back… tech friends don’t let tech friends use infrared remotes. :-) I spent many weeks trying out different solutions to automate/control my entire house. Looked at all the popular ones out there as well as not so popular. I wanted something that was not limiting and would allow me to control devices in many different ways. I didn’t want to be reliant upon storing my configuration on someone else’s server. 4 years ago I chose this app and what I got was more than I had ever hoped for. My entire house is automated and impresses everyone who sees what I’ve done. I’ve even setup a couple friends’ homes with Touch Control along with the purchase of a Global Cache IP2IR device and they are blown away. The support is unbelievably amazing and the product is always being improved with more and more features allowing you to… well, the sky is the limit. Yes, it does require computer skills and depending on how far you want to go with this product can increase that demand, but hey, what doesn’t? Again, the support is stupendous so if you need it it’s there. If you can’t do it with this software, it can’t be done.

It IS rocket science

If you are looking for an easy way to control your home theatre components, this isn't it. I am very tech savvy, but you need to be a CNE to have a chance to figure this out. If you want to spend loads of time learning the software and setting up a server go for it!

Don't let the TV remotes fool you!

This app is super powerful and can accomplish so much more than you'd think. Check out the developer's website to see some of the user's creative applications.

Crashes

All the new version does is crash

Beware!

This app (sold in the Apple iTunes Store) to work on Apple phones and iPads doesn't really do anything without running a companion "server app" on a PC. If you don't have a PC ... Good luck!

Awful app

Makes you download a bunch of extra stuff. Would not recommend especially for 7 dollars

Best iPhone-Eventghost bridge

I use this app as a bridge between my iPhone and my Eventghost server on my Home Theater PC. When paired with a USB-UIRT, I can turn my TV and other components on and off, as well as control XBMC.

Does everything and flexible

This is one of the best apps that I have ever purchased. It does everything as advertised and more. I use it to control all equipments and lights in my home theater. My plan is to control all equipments in the house and lights with x10 modules. The actual remote interface is highly customizable and easy to use. There's significant documentation online and to top it off, support is great! If you are looking for an app to control anything and everyrhing, look no more.

Very Customizable!!!

I have tried several remote apps out there and this is by far the most customizable app I have ever used. Through the JavaScript API, i am able to control all of my electronics equipment, my z-wave lighting, my nest thermostat all in one app. No other app I know of allows this level of customization. Please note that it does take some programming experience to do some of the more custom items but it still is very usable for the novice user. The developer is very responsive to feature requests and providing help when necessary. This app is well worth the money given the fact that a home automation solution can cost 1000s of dollars.

Great!

Flexible enough to do just about anything, given a little hard work. Using this in a flight simulator to simulate buttons and switches!

Requires a windows computer. No Mac support.

At the very bottom of the very long description it states a windows computer running 24/7 is required to use this app. #1. This requirement should be at the very top of the app description. #2. No Mac support for an iOS app? Really? #3. Don't waste your money on this app. You have been warned.

For the Tinkerer

I'm not a programmer, I'm not a scripter. But within an hour of installing I was controlling my PC with some simple buttons and a mousepad. If you like to create and to play with gadgets, it's well worth the money

Do not buy

I just wasted 5 bucks. Be prepared to get a worthless hunk of nothing and feel completely cheated when nothing in this worthless app does anything without additional in-app purchases. Signed, A sucker who actually believed the screen shots shown for this app was what I was buying

Works well and great support.

I have been using this application for a few days and so far things are working very well. It is highly customizable and with support for AutoHotKey, Global Cache and EventTrigger (which I use for Eventghost) it seems like it can act as a front end for doing almost anything related to remote control. Although the add-ins are an extra cost, they are very reasonably priced for what they allow you to do. I had a few questions on using the product and the support for the product by the developer was perhaps the best that I have ever run into. Questions were answered within a few hours or by the next day, at the latest. Truly amazing. I highly recommend this product.

Great App!

Top-notch program. Well designed interface. Most user friendly remote layout creation mode I've seen on the app store so far. Easy for beginners. Flexible enough to keep HTPC enthusiasts tweaking for hours. Must have for all you USB-UIRT owners. V2.0 Keeps getting better and better! V3.0 Now Touch-IR is a must have for all HTPC owners. This is no minor upgrade. With full AutoHotKeys integration, you now have one of the most powerful scripting languages in the palm of your hand . Worth ever penny. V4.0 Eventghost, Wow! If you do not know what it is, do yourself a favor and Google it. Nice work Dave. Thanks for the iOS4 update. Touch-IR is always there when I need it. I just can't keep up with the updates. This app does it all.

Very nice piece of software

I was looking at the controls they have for Photoshop and the other Adobe products when I thought about AutoHotkey and just using something to call commands from it. I figured there had to be some app on the app store that did that, but I was surprised to find one and only one. This is at the moment, the only remote app that does that. Plus it does so much more. If I get around to getting or building a IR connector for my PC then I'll be able to control my entertainment system. As an owner of a Pronto TSU3000, I'm already used to playing with the creation of an interface and this one is top notch for that. It could use some fine tuning (aspect ratio lock for buttons, easier import of image sets (maybe drag and drop or something), maybe a screen capture feature to grab an image for use and autoimport it into the program. All nit-picky things though, nothing major or deal breaking, the current system works just fine. Overall, an awesome program. It also supports EventGhost now, which is a pretty powerful automation app. I messed with it a long time ago, but stuck with AutoHotkey, may look at it again now. --Update-- I wanted to update my review. This continues to be an impressive app constantly adding new features and capability. The developer rolls out feature rich updates fairly often and listens well to his users. Keep up the great work :-)

The best customizable remote control app!!!

The Touch IR+ app and PC server program are an excellent way to automate and integrate your house all from your iPhone/iPad/iPod devices. For those PC home automation enthusiast , Touch IR+ integrates seamlessly with Girder, EventGhost and other PC based automation programs. As well as IR remote for PC IR transmitter and receiver to allow Touch IR+ to learn other remote control codes!!! The support is excellent!! Worth every penny!

The Best!

This is by far the best remote control app all around for the iPhone/iPad. I use it to inject keys into my gaming PC and make custom gaming keypads and it works great even for all-day gaming sessions. The server is awesome and very easy to use and create your own cool keypad layouts. Get it now!

VERYcustomizable

Excellent program for ir control. Design is limited only by your imagination. Screen shots do not do justice to the full capability of this app.

best and most customizable

I've tested a bunch of the remote app software out there - this one has the most potential to give you that true custom experience. Like any system that translates wifi to a command on your pc, it takes time to get the end to end system setup. I'm running a laptop with the touch-ir server on it and blasting my ir commands out to my home theater system via LM gestion blaster (lmgestion.net) because that library works with my mce ir blaster. The developer is really responsive to requests and suggestions. If there is something you want (that isn't crazy or super niche and actually enhances the app) odds are he'll add it as a feature.

Amazing Ly bad

Dosnt work and freezes a lot

The Best!

Version 4.3...thanks for continuing to pump out the features! The new mouse and keyboard fills all the gaps in the old mouse pad, and then some...use it all the time. Thanks for posting the sample on the web site. Also use full screen on my iPhone and getting feedback from event ghost. Great update! Getting an iPad and this will be one of the first apps I put on it. Can't wait to see what's next...! ------version 2.0------ Agree with the other 5-star reviews here. The best feature set of any universal remote app in the App Store. A quality app that would be a steal at twice the price. Glad somebody finally got it right.

Definately a Winner!

I've been looking at IR remote control applications for quite some time. This app along with IR Server is a great functional remote. I can program all my remotes plus macros while using either custom made screens or pictures of my real remotes. The support has been very very good as well. This app does what it says. Happy customer here!

I have tried them all

This solution is by far the best all around. I still have a Harmony 1100 BUT I find that I use this more and use this for all control around the house now! Can't wait for V.3

Simply the best

Quite simply, this is the best remote control software out there. The ability to Create custom screens is awesome. I have been able to import a floorplan of my house with the ability to tap a room and the lights go on. Tap another button to zoom into the room and close the curtains. Screens can be setup to go to other screens as you need. Click station logos instead of numbers to change channels. Complex macros can be setup when interfacing with IRCommand2. Your iPhone becomes the central command of all your IR and X-10 devices, comparable to the more expensive home control systems going for thousands of dollars. (Put this on an iPad and it could totally mirror thier functionality) Admittedly there is a learning curve to getting it to interface with IRCommand2, but I understand the developer has plans to port over a lot of this functionality directly as well as being able to interface with Auto Hot Key! (awesome macro program) I had to contact support for a configuration issue and the response was much better than my expectations. This app will get your mind spinning with all the possibilities and things you will be able to control from your iPhone. Even after buying the dongle it is still inexpensive and a much lower cost than the other options out there. This App is a game changer for low cost automation solutions.

Fantastic App

I have installed this program and it is a fantastic creation of programming........I have used a digital photo of my actual remote and through the support of the company who created this app and who went beyond the call of duty in many direct emails to me to get this app fine tuned and working perfectly, I now have an exact clone of my remote on my iPhone that works perfect!! I cant say enough about the quality and speed of support from Dave.......I highly recomend this app !!!! I am using it without Infrared at the moment, using it to control Windows Media Center on my computer to watch TV and Videos... I will be cloning all of my other remotes into this App..........
