At the very bottom of the very long description it states a windows computer running 24/7 is required to use this app. #1. This requirement should be at the very top of the app description. #2. No Mac support for an iOS app? Really? #3. Dont waste your money on this app. You have been warned.
Flexible enough to do just about anything, given a little hard work. Using this in a flight simulator to simulate buttons and switches!
I have tried several remote apps out there and this is by far the most customizable app I have ever used. Through the JavaScript API, i am able to control all of my electronics equipment, my z-wave lighting, my nest thermostat all in one app. No other app I know of allows this level of customization. Please note that it does take some programming experience to do some of the more custom items but it still is very usable for the novice user. The developer is very responsive to feature requests and providing help when necessary. This app is well worth the money given the fact that a home automation solution can cost 1000s of dollars.
This is one of the best apps that I have ever purchased. It does everything as advertised and more. I use it to control all equipments and lights in my home theater. My plan is to control all equipments in the house and lights with x10 modules. The actual remote interface is highly customizable and easy to use. Theres significant documentation online and to top it off, support is great! If you are looking for an app to control anything and everyrhing, look no more.
I use this app as a bridge between my iPhone and my Eventghost server on my Home Theater PC. When paired with a USB-UIRT, I can turn my TV and other components on and off, as well as control XBMC.
Makes you download a bunch of extra stuff. Would not recommend especially for 7 dollars
This app (sold in the Apple iTunes Store) to work on Apple phones and iPads doesnt really do anything without running a companion "server app" on a PC. If you dont have a PC ... Good luck!
All the new version does is crash
As a pro I have been programming control systems for many years. Ive installed systems costing many times more than a TouchControl system and the TouchControl results are better. The limit is my imagination, not someone elses idea how the result should look and feel. This latest release includes access to an IR code database used by pros. Importing a whole set of buttons for use with GlobalCaché boxes requires only a few clicks verses the former arduous process of learning each button. This is a huge productivity boost for me.
This app is super powerful and can accomplish so much more than youd think. Check out the developers website to see some of the users creative applications.
If you are looking for an easy way to control your home theatre components, this isnt it. I am very tech savvy, but you need to be a CNE to have a chance to figure this out. If you want to spend loads of time learning the software and setting up a server go for it!
I used to use an IR Harmony remote for my main living area but once you go down the IP/WIFI control path, you’ll never look back… tech friends don’t let tech friends use infrared remotes. :-) I spent many weeks trying out different solutions to automate/control my entire house. Looked at all the popular ones out there as well as not so popular. I wanted something that was not limiting and would allow me to control devices in many different ways. I didn’t want to be reliant upon storing my configuration on someone else’s server. 4 years ago I chose this app and what I got was more than I had ever hoped for. My entire house is automated and impresses everyone who sees what I’ve done. I’ve even setup a couple friends’ homes with Touch Control along with the purchase of a Global Cache IP2IR device and they are blown away. The support is unbelievably amazing and the product is always being improved with more and more features allowing you to… well, the sky is the limit. Yes, it does require computer skills and depending on how far you want to go with this product can increase that demand, but hey, what doesn’t? Again, the support is stupendous so if you need it it’s there. If you can’t do it with this software, it can’t be done.
Spent 6 hours trying to get app to find devices, but no avail. You have to download several other apps to tie Im with this app, prior. I bought and installed the add on apps/upgrades and still not working!
Been using this app, and the associated server component, for years and it just keeps getting better and better. If you are expecting a plug and play remote - look elsewhere. If you are willing to spend a few hours designing your own remote on the server the benefits are huge. It offers ultimate flexibility and control and a price point others in this class cant touch. The developer is very customer focused and updates with new features frequently. I LOVE this app!
Dont be fooled, very, very un-user friendly
